St. Patrick’s Day
On 17th March, 2011 the
teachers explained the importance of St.
Patrick’s Day to the Nursery children. The
children enjoyed making ‘Pot of Gold Collage’
which is an important symbol of this day.

Colour fun day
On the ‘Colour Fun Day,’ the
teachers came dressed in black and white
clothes. Children enjoyed making the black and
white collage. They were also thrilled to play
the ‘streamer race’. Finally, they all danced to
the tunes of ‘streamer fun’.

St. Patrick’s Day
The children of Senior KG
celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on 17th March 2011.
The festival was celebrated to make the children
understand the importance and significance of
the day. The people of Ireland remember their
saint who spread the message of God’s love. The
kids thoroughly enjoyed the follow-up activity
where they made St. Patrick’s rainbow mobile
using shamrock templates.

Holi
The Nursery children
celebrated the festival of colours- Holi on 18th
March, 2011. They enjoyed listening to the story
of Prahlad and Holika. They were excited to make
colourful handprint greeting cards for their Mom
and Dad.

Navroz
On 21st March, 2011 the Parsi
festival ‘Navroz’ was celebrated by the Nursery
kids. The classrooms were decorated with stars,
butterfly, birds and fish. The teacher explained
the essence of this festival to the young
learners as they relished eating sheera and dry
fruits on this day.

Field Trip to the Fire
Station
On 14th February, 2011 the
Pre-Primary children enjoyed going to the Fire
Station. The Fire Fighters performed the fire
drill in which they demonstrated how to put off
a fire using the fire extinguisher. The children
also got a chance to get into the fire engine.
All the parts of fire engine were explained to
them. The Fire Fighters demonstrated how the
hose pipes have to be used. The children were
excited to see the water splash up in the air.
It was a memorable experience for the teachers
and children.

ACTIVITIES held from
5th March to 11th March 2011
Off on a Flight
The Special day ‘Off on a
Flight” was celebrated by the Junior KG kids on
9th March, 2011. The young children came dressed
as airhostesses, stewards and pilots.
The enactment started from the check in counter,
security check, to announcements on board as
well as emergency landing procedure. The tiny
passengers were adept at making the airhostesses
run around for their “juices and soups.” They
all had a safe flight and landed at Bangalore
(VIBGYOR) just before the bell rang to go home
and tell the tales of the wonderful trip to
their parents.

Visit to a Nursery
The theme for the month being
plant life, what could be more apt
than a visit to a Nursery for the Junior Kg
students. On 11th February, 2011 the kids
visited a Nursery and were overwhelmed looking
at the different varieties of plants, creepers,
climbers, flowering plants, and shrubs. They
listened with immense interest as the teachers
showed them the different parts of a plant.

Crazy Creation
The Senior KG students turned
into Inventors on 21st February, 2011 and
created some ‘Crazy Creations.’ They were
encouraged to think of different problems that
they face and how they would make inventions to
solve their problems. The children eagerly drew
and painted their inventions and also used
different coloured papers, glitters etc. to
decorate their creations. The kids also came
forward and talked about their crazy creations.

Valentine’s Day
On 14th February, 2011 the
students of Junior KG celebrated Valentine’s
day. They heard the wonderful story of St.
Valentine. To make this day special children
brought bread and jam… they cut them with heart
shaped cookie cutter and decorated them
beautifully with colourful gems, and ate to
their hearts content…..

Valentine’s Day Celebration
Valentine’s Day “The day of
love” was celebrated with lots of enthusiasm by
Senior KG kids on 14th February, 2011. The
teacher told the children about the importance
of love and how we can show our affection to our
loved ones.
The kids made Valentine Day Cards with a
beautiful message inside it for their parents.

Chinese New Year
Senior KG children celebrated
Chinese New Year on 14th February, 2011. The
children learned how the Chinese people
celebrate their new year in the month of January
or February. Young men carrying lanterns join
the parade wearing tiger, lion or dragon face
masks. This was followed up by an activity where
the children made Chinese lion puppets with
colourful chart and crepe papers.

ACTIVITIES held from

Fantastic Flowers
On 8th February, 2011 the
students of Junior KG celebrated the Special
Day: Fantastic Flowers. The children beautifully
dramatized how a seed turns into a plant bearing
flowers. Later they made flowers and coloured
the flowers and leaves with colourful finger
prints. Once the flowers were ready, they took
turns and arranged their flowers in the vase.

The Solar System Day
Children of Senior KG had a
special day ”The Solar System Day” on 10th
February, 2011. It was a wonderful sight to see
the children all dressed up as stars, moon,
planets, aliens and astronauts.
The children were very excited to talk about
what they were dressed up as and the place they
came from.
Through the activity the children recapitulated
the concept of Universe. It was a treat to watch
the kids in their colourful and creative
costumes.

very excited to take the card home for their

11th December to 17th January 2011
DOCTOR NURSE DRESS UP DAY
On 11th January, 2011 Nursery
children came dressed as Doctors and Nurses.
Children went to the sick bay and did role-play,
enjoying being doctors, nurses and patients. The
Doctors pretended to check the temperature and
listened to the heartbeat with the stethoscope,
while the nurses enjoyed bandaging and giving
injections. It was a great experience for the
children.

CARPENTER VISIT
On 12th January, 2011 Nursery
children were thrilled to see the carpenter in
their class. The carpenter explained the use of
each tool. He also demonstrated cutting of a
wood piece with a saw and also smoothened it
with sand paper. The children were excited when
he started hammering. Over all it was an
enjoyable experience for the children.

Republic Day
On 17th January, 2011 the
Nursery children came dressed in flag colours to
commemorate the Republic Day. The teachers
explained the importance of Republic Day to the
kids. Orange, white and green marble paper were
given to the children and they enjoyed making
the tri-colour fan. They also sang songs like
‘Nanha munna rahi hu’ and the National Anthem.

ET comes to school
The kids watched the ET movie
on 17th January, 2011 with great awe and
splendour. They completely adored the little
alien that got stranded on Earth. It was fun to
watch the alien mingle with humans with such
ease. The kids also felt sad when everyone bid
goodbye to the alien at the end. As a follow up
activity, the kids recalled the characters that
they saw in the movie and drew the same on their
art sheets.

Tu B’Shvat
Senior Kg celebrated Tu
B’Shvat on 20th January, 2011. The children were
explained the significance of this festival of
Israel with the help of a colourful tree puppet.
The puppet told them that Tu B’ Shvat is
celebrated as the ‘’New Year of trees” and on
this day people calculate the age of trees and
plant saplings.
The children enjoyed the puppet show and made Tu
B’Shvat food mat by dipping the leaves in paint
and making impression on the paper.

Republic Day
The children of Senior Kg
celebrated the Republic Day in school on 25th
January, 2011.
The session started by remembering our great
leaders and their contributions to the country.
Children got to know the significance of our
National Flag, its tri colours and the values of
our Constitution. The children were excited to
make the tri colour badge with the slogan ‘PROUD
TO BE AN INDIAN.’

20th December to 23th December 2010
Christmas - Nursery
The Nursery kids enjoyed the
Christmas Party on 23rd December, 2010. The
class rooms were decorated with large bells,
streamers, stars and balloons. Children enjoyed
making the ‘Santa Goody Bag’ and ‘Christmas
tree’ greeting card. They were thrilled to play
the game ‘Four Corners’. Children loved watching
the movie ‘Bob the Builder – A Christmas to
remember’. Finally Santa Claus surprised them
all with the song ‘Jingle Bells’ and toffees.

Christmas Fiesta (Sr. KG)
Senior KG kids celebrated Christmas Fiesta on 23rd December, 2010, by making wreath and Christmas cards. They played games like pinning the nose on the snow man and watched a movie on Santa Claus. They learnt about Santa Claus and Rudolf the red nosed Reindeer.
The kids were surprised to see Santa Claus in their classroom. They gladly shook hands with him and received the goody bags as their Christmas gift.

SR.KG - FIELD TRIP TO
NATURE PARK
The visit to Nature Park on
21st December, 2010, was a fun filled day for
all our Senior KG children. Children went for a
nature walk where they saw colourful plants,
flowers and butterflies. The teachers discussed
about the different ways we can protect nature.
Children enjoyed playing and running around in
the playground.
The children learnt to appreciate nature and the
importance of keeping the environment clean and
safe.

SR.KG - Recycling Day
Senior KG children had
“Recycling day” on 20th December, 2010. It
reinforced the concept of reuse of our natural
resources to avoid wastage. The teachers
explained how best we can use and conserve our
natural resources. The kids then sang the song
‘Recycling in my home’ accompanied with
appropriate actions. As a follow up activity,
the children learnt to recycle newspapers into
small carry bags. They also decorated their bags
with brightly painted smiley faces and colourful
stickers.

BEAUTIFUL BIRDS
On 15th December, 2010, Junior
KG students started off a special day by
watching the screening of a show on different
kinds of bird. Children enthusiastically
recognized birds of prey, water birds, perching
birds, flightless birds and national birds of
different countries along with their
characteristics.
Later, step by step the life cycle of a bird was
demonstrated to them as they did the activity
“My mini book of a chick hatches.”
Children used their own creativity to colour the
cover page and the entire book. They sequenced
the sheets in order and tied it with a pretty
red satin ribbon.
Finally they were proud that they had made a
beautiful chick book.

Clee City Green City
The ‘Clean City Green City’
campaign was conducted by our Senior KG children
on 13th December, 2010. The objective of the
activity was to create awareness about keeping
our environment clean and to teach the kids
about sorting garbage. The whole activity was
conducted outdoors and two garbage tubs were
arranged – the green tub for waste that can be
mixed with the soil and the other for waste that
cannot be mixed back into the soil. The kids
participated in the activity whole heartedly and
proudly wore their ‘EARTH PAL’ badges. They
picked up the junk and threw them in the correct
garbage tubs.

Happy Hanukkah—Junior Kg
On 8th December, 2010 children
of Junior KG celebrated the Jewish festival
called Hanukkah. They learnt about the “Festival
of Lights” which is celebrated by lighting the
Menorah for eight nights and preparing delicious
food. They made the six pointer star called the
“Star of David” with the help of ice cream
sticks.

Nursery ALPHABET TREASURE
HUNT
On 6th December, 2010 the
Nursery children enjoyed playing the “Alphabet
Treasure Hunt” game with alphabets and toys. The
teachers hid the wooden alphabet cutouts around
the class - under tables and chairs.
The objects were shown and the children had to
find the corresponding letter. They were eager
to search for letters in and around the class.
They were very excited when they were able to
locate the alphabet. It was a thrilling
experience for all the children.

Sr.Kg HANUKKAH – THE
FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
The Senior Kg children
celebrated ‘Hanukkah’ on 2nd December, 2010 with
a lot of enthusiasm.
The teachers explained how the Jewish festival
is celebrated as a mark of winning the fierce
battle against enemies. It is also known as the
festival of lights. The celebration ended with
an art activity, where the children made
Menorahs with paper plates.

Sr.Kg Movie Watch – “TWO
BROTHERS”
The children of Senior Kg
enjoyed the movie “Two brothers”, on 7th
December, 2010. The movie was about two little
tiger cubs who get separated. The children loved
watching the cute cubs and their antics. The
movie taught the children to be kind to animals.
They also learnt the value of relationships.

Nursery Froggy Fun Day - 15th Nov 2010
The children enjoyed painting the frog cutouts. Teachers made masks using the coloured frogs. The children were very excited to wear the masks and played the ‘Froggy Froggy’ game.

Junior KG field trip to Aquarium-26.11.10
The Junior KG children started the trip with much enthusiasm to an octagonal shaped aquarium Cubbon Park. They sang many songs in the bus. They were amazed to see so many fishes like Ball eyed gold fish, Albino Sharks, Angel fish, Yellow parrot fish, Silver dollar fish, Eels, Peacock fish , Sword tail fish and many more. They enjoyed the grilled sandwich and banana. Overall it was a nice trip.

THANKSGIVING DAY
On 25th Nov the Sr.KG. children celebrated Thanksgiving day with great enthusiasm. The teachers explained how the families unite on this day and thank the Almighty for his blessings and their near and dear ones for their love and support. As a follow up activity the kids ran the Thanksgiving dinner relay. Two teams were formed and each child ran the race with a tray full of food until each child in every team had had a turn. The team to finish first was then declared the winner.
