Special Day: Colour
Fun Day
On 17th March, 2011 the class
of Junior KG had a fun filled day playing with
colours. The little ones were given bright
colours in different bowls. They had to paint
with the colours using their toes. The teachers
helped them to perform the activity. Later, they
had a lovely time dancing to the music and
blowing bubbles with coloured soapy water.

Special Day: Off on
a Flight
The Junior KG students
celebrated the special day ‘Off on a Flight’ on
11th March, 2011. ‘Transport’ being the theme
for this month, the children learnt about the
various means of transport. To elaborate the
concept of Air Transport, a special guest Mr.
Rajat Kora- a Pilot by profession, was invited.
The class was setup like an Airport complete
with toy airplanes and the children dressed as
pilots, air hostesses and cabin crew. Mr. Kora
explained about the take off and landing of the
plane and also explained some safety rules on a
flight. Students were delighted to have a real
pilot with them in the class.

Chinese New Year
Celebration
China, a neighbouring
country of India was familiarized to the Pre
Primary students by celebrating the Chinese New
Year on 28th February, 2011. The teachers
explained how the Chinese celebrate their New
Year. Nursery kids enjoyed making the Chinese
finger puppets with the help of the teacher.
Students of Junior KG made a cute dragon toy.
The Senior KG students celebrated the festival
by making the Chinese lion puppet. The
celebration helped the students to understand
the importance of the Chinese New Year.

Little Scientists
at Work
On 3rd March, 2011 the Senior
KG students celebrated the Special Day- ‘Little
Scientists at Work.’ They conducted various
experiments to understand the dissolving of
substances. They used water, salt, sugar, sand
and oil for the purpose. The objective of the
activity was to understand the term “Dissolve.”
The young learners truly enjoyed learning the
concept through the simple experiments.

Special Day:
Valentine’s Day
The students of Pre
Primary celebrated the Valentine’s Day on 25th
February, 2011. The teachers spoke about Saint
Valentine and explained the significance of the
day to the children. The Nursery Kids made
wonderful cards for their Moms and Dads. A
delicious treat was arranged by the Junior KG
students. They made heart shaped Jam sandwiches
and decorated them with gems. Senior KG students
celebrated the day by making greetings for their
loved ones. Overall it was a wonderful day for
the kids.

Businessperson
Visit
A Special day “Businessperson
Visit” was celebrated by Senior KG on 4th March,
2011. Mrs. Meenal Mulherkar, the Administrative
Director of Makjai Group of Companies offered
her precious time to have an informative
conversation with the children. She explained
the various means of communication used by the
business houses, to the children. The children
actively participated by asking relevant
questions and also sharing their knowledge. Mrs.
Mulherkar elaborated on the latest Information
and Technology used in the business. It was a
lovely and informative time for the children.

Special Day:
Fantastic Flowers
The students of Junior KG
celebrated the special day, Fantastic Flowers on
7th February, 2011. The teacher conducted the
activity “The seed turned into a flower” with
the entire class. The life cycle of a flower was
dramatized by the teachers. Further, to enhance
the students’ creativity and imagination the
teacher enabled the students to make beautiful
flowers. The students made finger painted
flowers by dipping their tiny fingers into
paints. They enjoyed the activity to the
fullest.

Solar System Day
Keeping in mind the theme for
the month, the students of Senior KG celebrated
the Special Day ‘The Solar System Day’ on 11th
February, 2011. The Kids of Senior KG came
dressed as planets, astronauts, Moon, Sun and
also aliens. Each child got the opportunity to
talk about what he/she was. The concept of the
Solar System was taught in a play way method.
The class enjoyed a perfect space ambience.

Special activity:
Tu B’Shvat
Tu B’Shvat a festival
celebrated in Israel was also celebrated by the
students of the Pre-primary section on 10th
February, 2011. The festival is also called “New
Year of Trees.” The teachers explained the
importance of the festival through various ways.
The Nursery kids did the hand print tree
activity by dipping their tiny hands in paints.
Similarly, Senior KG students enjoyed stamping
the leaf impression on paper. The Junior Kg
students learnt about the “Germination of seed”
through a beautiful skit. The activity was
concluded by planting seeds in the little jars
of soil.

Special Day: What do
Chefs & Bakers do?
The students of Nursery
celebrated the Special Day: Chefs and Bakers’
Day on 2nd February, 2011. To reinforce the
concept of community helpers a baker was invited
to the class. The baker came with all his
equipments. The kids were shown the various
tools he uses- oven, measuring cups, mixing bowl
etc. The baker demonstrated the dressing of a
cake. The kids were deeply engrossed in the
cream, chocolate, and various sprinklers etc. It
was an enjoyable day for them.

Special Day: Doctor
and Nurse Dress up day
Doctor and Nurse Dress up day
was celebrated by the Nursery kids on 3rd
February, 2011. The Nursery class had
beautifully transformed itself into a mini
clinic. Children had come dressed as doctors and
nurses. Their teacher explained the role of
doctors in our lives. She also showed them the
various tools the doctor uses. The kids were
excited to be in the doctor and nurse attire.
The teacher demonstrated how the doctor checks
the patients. The students enjoyed a wonderful
experienced of learning a concept by actually
entering into the role.

Kite Flying Day
The kids of Pre-primary
celebrated the special day: Kite flying day on
27th January, 2011. Teachers explained to the
students the importance of Makar sakranti.
Children made awesome patterns of kites with the
help of the teachers. The activity was aimed at
enhancing their gross motor skills and
expressions of creativity. The kids were very
excited to see the kites flying. They
experienced the free air of joy.

Carpenter Visit
Keeping in mind the importance
of Community helpers, a special day, and
Carpenter visits was held on 28th January, 2011.
The teacher explained the role of carpenters in
our day to day life. The students had a short
conversation with the carpenter. The teacher and
the carpenter explained the various tools he
uses. The kids had an informative interaction
with the carpenter.

Hanukkah
The students of Pre-primary
celebrated the Jewish festival of Hanukkah on
13th January, 2011. This festival celebrates the
victory of the Jews to fight for their right to
follow their own religion. The Nursery Kids made
a Dreidel – a top with four squares. Students of
Junior Kg made the ‘Star of David’ using
ice-cream sticks. Paper plate Menorah was made
by the Senior Kg students. The Kids understood
the significance of the festival.

Clean City Green
City
The kids of Senior Kg conducted
the activity Clean City Green City on 17th
January, 2011 in and around the school premises.
The tiny hands were busy clearing the litter.
They learnt how to keep the area clean by
throwing garbage in the right bins. The teachers
told them how green waste is further used for
compost. The objective to make children aware of
keeping their environment clean and also to
teach them about sorting the garbage was
perfectly attained.

Busy Busy Spider
Day
The students of Nursery
celebrated the special day Busy Busy Spider Day
on 17th January, 2011. The teacher narrated a
beautiful story about a spider that was very
busy. The story proceeded with the lovely
puppets and the children dressed as the spider,
cow, goat, duck etc. Children enjoyed playing
the game ‘Lets spin a web.’ The teacher
sincerely attempted to enhance the language,
visual and listening skills of each child.

Field Trip to
Nature’s Park
The students of Senior Kg were
excited at the thought of visiting a Nature’s
park.
21st January, 2011 was the day, the kids visited
the wonderful place surrounded by a variety of
trees. The kids lost themselves in the grove of
trees. The teacher made them aware of the nature
around us . She also explained and showed the
different medicinal plants and their uses. The
kids spent a lovely time at the Nature’s park.

Viva - 2010
VIVA, the annual school fest of VIBGYOR High, Kolhapur was celebrated on 18th and 19th December, 2010. The two day fête provided a platform for our students to showcase their talents in various extra-curricular activities along with their peers. More than ten schools participated in the inter-school championships. Various workshops, competitions, concerts and sports activities were held for the Vibgyorites. The grand finale was marked by the concert where the entire school participated and put up a magnificent show.

Field Trip to an Aquarium
The students of Junior Kg visited a local Aquarium store on 6th January, 2011. The kids marvelled at the sight of wonderful fishes. They enjoyed watching fishes of varied shapes, sizes and colours. The objective of this trip was to encourage the kids to know more about fishes and other aquatic animals.

Visit to a Studio
The students of Senior Kg visited a local film studio on 23rd December, 2010. The objective of this trip was to expose the kids to the secrets of shooting techniques. They saw cameras of different sizes and shapes serving different purposes. The students were thrilled to see the projection techniques. They enjoyed watching some News clippings. It was an informative trip for them.

Christmas Celebration 24 Dec. 2010
The students of Nursery, Jr. Kg and Sr. Kg celebrated Christmas Fest on 24th December, 2010 with great pomp and reverence. The students were dressed in fancy Christmas colours. The Jr. Kg and Sr. Kg class students enjoyed making greeting cards. The tiny hands of our Nursery Kids created the Santa Goody bags. The sudden arrival of Santa Claus surprised the kids. The kids rocked on the beats of Christmas carols. The beautiful Christmas tree and the colourful balloons created the perfect Christmas ambience. Surprise gifts and sweets given through Santa excited kids. It was a lovely beginning for the Christmas vacation.

Children were divided into 2 groups. Group 1

Dusshera
On 14th October, the day of the Dusshera celebration there were different activities planned for all the Pre-Primary classes. The Nursery students were told the story of the Ramayana, the Jr. Kg coloured the picture of God Ram and the Sr. Kg students drew the picture of Ravana. The teachers explained the relevance of this festival to the students.

Diwali Celebration
The festival of lights was a fantastic celebration for the Pre-Primary on 26th October. There was a rangoli decoration near the classroom door. The Nursery students made a lantern and a greeting card for their parents. The Jr. KG students made a toran and a greeting card while the Sr. KG students made a greeting card

Children’s Day Celebration
The Children’s Day celebration on 26th November was one of the most entertaining events for the Pre-Primary. The students watched a fine Puppet show on that day. The theme of the celebration was ‘The Sea Creatures’. After the puppet show the students returned to class and drew the sea creatures that they had seen during the show.

World Fiesta
World fiesta (21.09.10) was a day full of different colours, cultures, cuisines and music. This event had some chosen cultures of the world which were presented to the parents through dance and music. Later, the students posed questions to the parents based on GK. There were also stalls where different snacks like sandwiches, noodles, muffins etc. were sold. These were handled by the students. The money collected was donated to charity.

Visit to an Ice Cream Factory
On 1st October, a visit to Frostee Ice Cream Factory was conducted for Jr.KG students with the objective of acquainting them with the process through which the most favourite delicacy is made. The students waited eagerly for this day. They observed the process of making ice-cream, its packaging and storage. Towards the end of the visit the students were treated to ice-cream by the management of the factory.

Grandparents’ Day Celebration
7th October, 2010, Grandparents’ day was a fun- filled day for both the grandchildren and grandparents. The theme for the celebration was of films of 70s. Most of the students and grandparents followed the dress style of the 70s. Thereafter, the grandparents were entertained with a dance performance by the grandchildren. The grandparents later participated in various games like, Antakshari, Dumb Charades, Find Your Pair etc. The day ended in fun and laughter.

Dental Camp
The Dental Camp held on 27th July, by the school was a great success. The free Dental check-up gave the parents of the students an opportunity to look into the immediate dental concerns of their wards. A team of doctors led by Dr. Shraddha Vajramushti conducted a presentation to bring about awareness in the students about general dental health. The students found the presentation very informative.

To McDonald’s We Will Go
The Field Trip to McDonald’s on 29th July, was the most awaited fieldtrip for Nursery students. They were warmly welcomed there by the entire staff. The children were taken to different sections of the Restaurant in order to acquaint them with the process of preparing a sumptuous meal at Mc Donald’s. French Fries and Ice-cream were later served to the students.

Buddy Day
31st July, Buddy Day was an enjoyable day for the students of Jr. KG. This day allowed them to spend some quality time with their buddies and indulge in various activities like photo frame making, a balloon race, a walk together, collecting various items, music & movements, Monaco chat making etc. Towards the end of the day they exchanged photo frames with their buddies.

Visit to a Gymnasium
The visit to the Gymnasium on 2nd August was conducted for the students of Jr. Kg. They appreciated the ambience of the Gymnasium. They were taken around by the staff who explained the functioning of the equipment in the Gymnasium. The students understood the importance of exercise and a balanced diet in our daily life.

Sense Stations
The Sense Station activity on 7th August involved a number of tasks using the 5 senses. The students were taken to 5 different Sensory Booths and participated in activities pertaining to one particular sense at a time. The students enjoyed the experience of various tastes and smells. They observed different shapes etc. and enjoyed the day immensely.

Old Age Home
The Sr.KG students visited the aged members of society at a Home for the Aged on 12th August. The fieldtrip helped the students build an immediate connection with the loving and affectionate older members of the Old Age Home. The students who already have grandparents could relate to the old people and the ones who do not have grand parents understood what they were missing in their lives. Either way, it was a good bonding time that both the age groups enjoyed.

Sing-along-Mummy
(25th June- Nursary)
Sing-along-Mummy, conducted on 25th June, was a very enjoyable experience for the Nursery children. It gave them a chance to enjoy with their mothers. They sang the nursery rhymes together. The teacher had introduced the rhymes to the children, thus, they found it easy to sing and dance on. The interaction between the two was very touching. The children were immensely happy and had a lot of fun.

INAUGURAL FUNCTION (14th June)
The Inaugural Day of VIBGYOR High International School, Kolhapur was the most exciting and eagerly awaited day for many. The Inauguration was held on 14th June, 2010 at 9.30 a.m. The Chief Guest for the function was the Superintendent of Police of Kolhapur, Mr. Yashasvi Yadav (IPS).
The Principal Mr. T. Balan’s speech evoked confidence and promised guidance for the staff. Ms. Kavita Sahay, Director, HR, Schools & Academics enthused the teachers by her presence. Mr. Yashasvi Yadav’s encouraging words also assured the parents that they had made the right choice by enrolling their children in the nurturing environment of VIBGYOR High International School.
The teachers carried the same enthusiasm back to their classes where they spent time getting acquainted with their students.

Coffee Meet (7th June)
The Coffee Meet held on 7th of June 2010 was the perfect occasion for the parents to get a glimpse of the pattern in which the school would function during the academic year. This programme was conducted by Ms. Anchal Vasandani who visited the Kolhapur Centre especially for this event. Ms. Vasandani used a PPT to explain the plan of action for the forthcoming academic session. The PPT also acquainted the parents with the various activities and curriculum planning scheduled for the academic year 2010-11.
The teachers were introduced to the parents. The Coffee Meet was a great success since all the queries of the parents were answered and their doubts were clarified.

Teachers’ Induction Programme
(Nursery Children : 5th June, 2010)
The Teachers’ Induction Programme of VIBGYOR High International School was held on 5th June, 2010. This programme was conducted by Ms. Shalini Sateesh. They were the first batch of teachers of the Kolhapur Centre and so were understandably apprehensive yet enthusiastic. The teachers listened attentively as the ‘Vision’, ‘Mission’ and ‘Policies’ of VIBGYOR High International, its pedagogy and its methodology were spelt out for their edification
By the end of the induction programme the teachers understood the significance of their role and responsibility in a renowned institution like VIBGYOR High International School.
