Traditional Party
Quite rich in traditional and
cultural heritage we Indians have a lot to pass
on to our little ones. So, in order to apprise
them of their affluent heritage we planned a
“Traditional Party” for our pre-primary kids on
26th Nov. 2011.
The classrooms were decorated by the teachers
for the occasion. The teachers explained about
our various traditions to which everybody
listened eagerly. Later the children
participated in activities lined up for them
like – Making lanterns, colouring ‘Diyas’,
making ‘Torans’ etc. to mark the celebration.
Later the kids enjoyed dancing to foot tapping
notes. It was a cool party for all.

Ocean Wall
In the wake of their new theme
– Marine Life, the Sr.K.G. kids showed a natural
urge to get the feel of the water world. So, the
special activity “Ocean Wall” planned to be held
on 9th Nov.’11was a great welcome.
In this activity, the teacher had joined four
white colored chart sheets for the children to
draw an under water scene. Later she assisted
them to make cut-outs of marine plants and
animals as she kept telling them about under
water life.
After coloring the charts in blue water color,
children pasted their cut-outs to complete the
activity. It sure was a creative way to
enlighten the little ones about Marine Life.

Monkey Day
Nearing the end of their
current theme-“Wild Animals”, our play group
students also deserved a party so we arranged
for them a “Monkey Day” celebration on 19th
Oct’11. Already fascinated with the animal world
the little ones relate mostly with one animal in
particular and that is ‘MONKEY’.
It was quite a sight as all were dressed up as
monkeys. To make the day special the children
were also served bananas in their snack. All the
kids looked very cute as they danced merrily on
the notes of ‘Funny Funny monkeys’ with their
teacher. Over all it was a great monkey day for
all.

Visit to a
Storyland
Wow! This place is so colorful,
the imagination is the limit! Yes, you got it
right we are in the story land, any child's
heaven. The Junior K.G. children of our
pre-primary department had A Visit to Story land
scheduled in their curriculum on 13th September
2011.
During this event children were thrilled to talk
about their favourite story characters like-
Mickey Mouse, Dunno and most of all Noddy. They
were excited to find the colorful Noddy books
provided to them for reading.
They also watched the movie- ‘Noddy as an
artist’. After the movie, they were asked
different questions related to the movie which
the children enjoyed answering. Altogether the
children enjoyed their visit to story land very
much.

Visit to the ZOO
Would you enjoy spending a day
knowing about animals and befriending them? Ask
any child, and they all will give the same
answer -YES. That is how we planned a visit to
the city Zoo for our nursery kids on 9th Sep
2011.
Children were overjoyed as they looked at so
many animals and birds of different colors at
the same place- deer, bears, tiger,
hippopotamus, rhinoceros, chimpanzees, monkeys,
cranes, parrots. Children were also very happy
to look at the huge neck of the giraffe.
Needless to say the children enjoyed this trip
very much.

Field Trip Report
On 24.8.11 students of Gr.6
went to Science center as an extension to the
Unit-Simple Machines. Students were very excited
to see different kinds of machines which work
according to simple concepts of physics to make
our life comfortable. The students enhanced
their knowledge on the working of levers,
pulley, inclined plane, etc and related them from
examples of day to day usage. It was an exiting
experience for them to see 3D movie and using
different machines for experimenting the skills
which they have learnt the oritically.

INDIA DAY
On 12th August, 2011, the
little patriots of pre-primary geared up to
celebrate the Independence Day with a remarkable
zeal and fervour. Dressed in shades of the
Tricolour, they exhibited their love for their
country. They sang the ‘National Anthem’ and
danced to the tune of ‘Nanha, munna rahi’. Their
creativity was expressed when they very
innovatively, painted in tricolour, beautiful
headbands and badges. The children of Jr.K.G.
made their hand impressions on an outline map of
India and Sr.K.G. participated in a friendly
Quiz session related to our National Symbols
followed by art activities.

Colour Fun Day -
Blue
Our reaction to colour is
almost instantaneous and has a profound impact
on the choices we make everyday.
The students of Nursery celebrated Colour Fun
Day on 3rd August; 2011.The theme of the day was
colour BLUE. The children came to school dressed
in the soothing shades of blue. To enhance the
colour concept, recognition and differentiation
of colour in the children they were asked to
finger paint with blue colour, make buildings of
blue foam blocks and sort out blue beads from
red beads. The day came to an end with an
energetic dance by the children.

My Dad Rocks
“Go east or west, my daddy is
the best “.
My dad rocks – this was the feeling exhibited by
the children of Playgroup when they participated
in multiple learning games with their fathers.
The daddies helped them solve various puzzles,
making their children recognize colours and
shapes followed with the parachute activity. The
children learned with fun and sang many nursery
rhymes with their daddies.

I Love You Mom Day
“My reason to be happy, my
reason to smile; with you I’ll grow and walk
miles and miles; ever lovely, ever caring, my
dear Mum your love is never ceasing.”
The students of Playgroup spent a wonderful time
with their darling mummies on 7th July,’11. The
day began with dancing on nursery rhymes,
followed by making an adorable photo frame for
the mothers to paste their picture with their
child. Mothers prepared a treat for their
children and made Monaco Chat whereas the
children lent a helping hand. All in all they
both thoroughly enjoyed the day and the mothers
left thankful to have had such a memorable day.

Dressing Up Like
Mummy & Daddy
“I wanna look like my mum, I
wanna look like my dad, ‘coz my mum’s a pretty
lady and dad’s a handsome lad…!” The children of
Playgroup perfectly portrayed their mummies &
daddies when they came dressed as their parents
on 5th July, 2011.Their classroom had a ‘
Kitchen Corner ‘,’Washing Corner ‘ and an ‘
office corner ‘. The children happily played on
the corners set for them. Most of all they
enjoyed washing their handkerchiefs and mock
iron them. The objectives of the Day were to
give a time of free – play to the children and
they made sure that they played freely on this
day!
Festival
Celebration: Baisakhi celebration
The festival of Baisakhi was
celebrated with full fervor and festivity by the
children of Vibgyor kids on 5th May,’11. The
children were told about the significance of
this festival and that in Punjab farmers
celebrate it as a day of harvest. The children
had come dressed in colourful traditional
Punjabi attire. It was completely a party time
for the children as they danced merrily on the
beats of Bhangra music. The spirit of Baisakhi
was perfectly expressed by these little
dancers…!!

Tactile Sensory
Zone
An activity on ‘Tactile Sensory
Zone’ was conducted for the Junior K.G. children
on 29th June in the classes. It was also part of
their curriculum Sense Organs. Children were
made to touch and feel the various textures like
Velcro, coin, plastic cord, sand paper, cotton,
match sticks, etc. Then they were told to remove
object of the same texture as they had from a
bag, without seeing it but by mere sense of
touch( By blindfolding them). They were
familiarized with the concept of differences
between Smooth and Rough.
This activity helped them to understand the
importance of sense of touch. They got an
insight of how blind people go about their
activities through sense of touch.
Field trip to an
Eye Specialist.
It is very often observed that
children learn better with practical training,
so on 30th June 2011, our Junior K.G. children
had been to an Eye Specialist, Dr.Mandar
Joglekar’s clinic for a field trip. This was
arranged with a view to get an indepth knowledge
of our organ EYE. Dr Joglekar explained to the
children the method of eye checking by
demonstrating it on one of them. He showed the
children all the equipments used for eye
checking. Next they were shown the lab where he
explained how the lenses were prepared according
to the numbers. A model of eye was shown and the
children could easily answer about the different
parts of the eye. All queries of the children
related to the Eyes were solved. They also
learnt how to take care of this delicate yet
important organ.
This visit enhanced their knowledge about the
organ EYE and its importance.
Field trip to A
Blind School
On 30th June 2011, our Senior
K.G. children visited Dyaan Prabodhan Andh Shala
at Mirajkar tikti, Kolhapur . The children were
welcomed by the Blind School’s Authority. They
witnessed how the visually impaired children
carry on with their day to day activities of
schooling, the Braille book by which they can
read with the help of their finger tips touch
and also their writing techniques. They also saw
how the white cane is used by them for
walking.The entire staff of the school was
cooperative. Our children were both curious as
well as amazed to see
the different techniques that were developed to
make the visually impaired self sufficient.
This visit helped them to get acquainted to the
visually impaired and to develop respect for
them. This experience once again reinforced the
importance of the organ Eye.
Field trip to Mahaveer
Garden.
On 5th July, our Nursery kids
were taken for a field trip to Mahaveer
Garden.The sky was clear and bright, it was a
perfect day for an outing. Our cute kids were
all excited and in an upbeat mood. They left by
the school bus.Mahaveer garden has ample pace,
both in lawn as well as in play park area.Our
kids made full use of this space, they watched
the different flora and fauna, then they played
some organized games and sang a few rhymes
merrily. The play park area was their main
attraction, as they wanted to play in the sand,
on the slides, swings and seesaws. They were
helped by the two teachers and the ancillary.
Finally they left with cheerful faces.
The aim of this trip was to familiarize the
children with gardens and play park and also
social purpose of playing together and taking
turns while playing.

Special Activity: Tactile Sensory Zone
The children of Jr.K.G
participated in an enjoyable and informative
activity – The Tactile Sensory zone on 11th
May,’11. There were two activity games arranged
for the children in which they had to identify
the objects only by feeling them and later
categorize the objects as ‘rough’ or ‘smooth’.
The children not only learned about the Tactile
Sense but enjoyed the activity through out.

Special Day – Sing along Mummy
“Not guitar strings, not drum
beats, not harmony to tune
along;
What gets my foot tapping; is when my mama sings
along...!”
The students of Nursery had a beautiful day on
10th May.’11 when they danced and played along
with their dear mummies..! Mummies too were in
full gusto and even outdid their tiny toddlers
when it came to energy and enthusiasm…!!
They sang nursery rhymes with their children,
danced ‘like’ children, learned new rhymes and
gave their children a beautiful day to remember,
a beautiful memory to cherish…!!!

An
Amazing Journey inside the Body
Special activity –“An Amazing
Journey inside the body”, was conducted on the
28th of April ’11. The children were taken to
various “sense corners”, where the teachers had
exhibited items and materials that the children
had to recognize by senses of touch, hear, see,
taste and smell. The children were blindfolded
and taken to these corners and given hands on
experience to explore their different senses.
The children with the help of this activity were
able to understand that how our senses are
stimulated by experiencing different things.
They thoroughly enjoyed the activity and
concluded it by singing a rhyme related to body
organs.

Field
Trip – Visit to ‘Chetna’
On 27th of April, the Sr. K.G
children were taken to visit “Chetna”, an
orphanage dedicated to visually/mentally
challenged children.
The purpose of the trip was to inculcate in our
students, the feelings of consideration,
generosity and respect for the ones who are
disabled.
Our children happily mingled with the children
of Chetna, sang rhymes with them and very
willingly posed for the camera with their new
friends.
The objective of the trip was completely
achieved as our students not only learned how to
accept and love all but also realized the
importance of the sense organs.

Field
Trip: Picnic to a Park
“Sunday morning up with a
lark…I think I’ll take a walk in the park…! Hey
hey…it’s a beautiful day…!! “
It was a lovely morning on 26th of April ’11 and
the gentle breeze with a light drizzle made it
even more beautiful.
The children of Nursery packed their bags and
headed out for a picnic to “Buddha Park” with
their teachers.
There they played Ball Games and Frisbee; swung
merrily on the swings, chased butterflies and
enjoyed sumptuous snacks..!!
All in all they enjoyed…..and indeed it was a
beautiful day…!!
