ACTIVITIES held from 2nd February to 7th February 2012

Event: What do Chef’s do?

With an aim to reinforce the ‘Community helpers’ the nursery children had a special day of ‘What do chef’s / baker’s do?’ The bakers role was the theme taken for today’s activity and hence the process of baking was explained. The children were introduced to the various baking equipments, utensils and the ingredients needed for making a cake. The process of mixing the various ingredients was demonstrated to the children.

Chinese New Year

With an aim to help children understand the significance of the festival ‘Chinese New Year’ the children celebrated the Chinese New Year. Children were informed about the time and duration of this festival. This was followed by an activity where in the Sr. kg students made Chinese lion puppets, the Jr.K.G students made dragons, the nursery students made finger puppets while the play group made the Chinese New Year fireworks.

ACTIVITIES held from 18 January to 25th January 2012

Republic Day

The students of Pre- Primary celebrated the republic Day in their own special way. The importance of this day was
imparted to the children. Different grades performed different activities as per their grade level.
To develop hand co-ordination and to familiarize them with the colours of our ‘ Tri – Colour’ , the play group
children made prints with a sponge on the flag.
To gain knowledge of the tri-colors the Jr. Kg children made pendants of the Indian Flag.
The Sr. Kg. children came dressed in the colours of our Flag. This was followed by the making of a star shaped
badge of our Indian Flag.

Field Trip

The students of Sr. Kg had an exhilarating field trip to the ‘Necklace Park’. The intention was to acquaint the
children to the nature around them. The children watched a variety of butterflies along with an assortment of
beautiful birds. Their joy new no bounds when they saw some rabbits and ducks. The children had a blissful time in
harmony with the nature.

Beautiful Birds

The children of Jr. Kg. celebrated a special day ‘Beautiful Birds’ by making bird nests with paper plates. The aim of reinforcing the ‘life cycle of a bird’ was achieved through this activity. The children also enjoyed dancing to the tune of the ‘birdie’ song.

Pajama Day

To give the feeling of a real life experience the children of play group had a special day, the “Pajama Day”. The Children came to school in their Pajamas and brought along with them their favourite toy. The class had been darkened to give the effect of ‘night time’. To add to the effect stars and a moon had been suspended across the class. The children were enchanted with the effect. They sang poems like ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ and ‘R U Sleeping’ and had a wonderful time.

Busy Bee Day

With an aim to enhance the language, visual and listening skills, the nursery students had a special “ Busy Busy Spider” day. The children dressed as different domestic animals performed a role play with their teacher narrating the story of ‘ The busy Spider’. Their animated performances made the entire experience a vibrant one.

ACTIVITIES held on 23rd December 2011

Event: Christmas Fiesta

Christmas was celebrated with great fervor through out our pre primary section. Classrooms were decorated to give a festive look and Christmas carols were played in the background. The children saw the crib and met Santa. The children were elated to receive their the goody bags from Santa himself.
An assortment of activities were organised for the children as per their grades, like making wreaths, Greetings cards, Snowman, Christmas Tree etc. They also played games like ‘Pinning the nose of the snowman’, ‘Four corners’. The children were in a jubilant mood.

ACTIVITIES held from 13th December to 15th December 2011

Event : VIVA Competitions

Look Alike competition held on the 13 Dec gave the children an opportunity to look exactly like their parents. Every child aspires to be like his mom and dad and the competition gave them that very chance.

Clay Modeling Competition was conducted on the 14th December 2011. All the participants were very talented and they enthusiastically created amazing clay models.

Western Solo Dance Competition - ‘Krazzy Kiya Re’ was conducted on the 15th December, 2011. There were some brilliant performances put up by the participants . The performances of some of the participants could beat some of our Bollywood actors.

Razzmatazz Competition held on the 15th December, 2011 was marked with elegance flair and enthusiasm. The children performed passionately to perfection to the heady music. 

’Chance Pe Dance’ a contemporary competition held on 14 Dec gave the participants a chance to showcase their grace, rhythm, verve, style and passion. Children performed to the catchy beats of contemporary music.
The students of Sr. Kg. participated enthusiastically in a art competition, ‘Natures Best Shot’ held on 15th December, 2011. The children imaginations and hidden talents were revealed. It was immensely satisfying to see the budding artists.

A ‘Booming Bestseller Today’ competition was held on 15th December. The participants along with their parents composed a creative message with a catchy messages to advertise their product. The skills of our budding best sellers was apparent from their creative messages.


Viva Prince and Princess
The crowning glory of Viva, were the participants having it all …. style, smile, grace, attitude, talent .. were crowned the prince and the princess. The competition was marked with elegance, flair and enthusiasm.

ACTIVITIES held from 16th November to 25th November 2011

Underwater Adventure Day

Underwater Adventure Day was celebrated in the nursery classes on 25th November 2011. The main aim of this special day is to provide an opportunity for dramatic play. Children came dressed up as different underwater creatures. Each child talked about the respective creature they had come dressed up as, for the special day. They were able to recognize the underwater creatures they had learnt about. The song “I’d like to be a creature” was played and the children pretended like the underwater creatures. The children enjoyed this activity. As reinforcement we talked about the characteristic features of all the underwater creatures.

Special Day: Froggy Fun Day

A special day called Froggy Fun Day was celebrated in the nursery class rooms on the 23rd November 2011. Children were given frog cut outs and encouraged to paint them green. With their tiny pointer fingers they made black spots on the painted cut outs. This cut out was worn by them around the neck and they played a game. The children pretended to be like frogs and jumped around and enjoyed this game. As reinforcement we talked about the physical features and the life cycle of the frog. The main objective was achieved successfully.

Movie watch: Finding Nemo

A movie watch was arranged for the children of Nursery on the 16th and 17th of November 2011. The children were shown the movie “Finding Nemo”. The movie was about a little fish Nemo and his underwater adventures. Children were excited to watch the underwater creatures and they enjoyed the movie a lot. They were able to identify the underwater creatures they saw in the movie. As reinforcement we talked about all the underwater creatures. We discussed about the physical features and amazing facts about each underwater creature. Children had an enjoyable day watching the movie.

ACTIVITIES held on 14th November 2011

Children’s day Celebration

14th November was celebrated with much fervor and gaiety through out the school. The day began with the teachers welcoming the children warmly, the significance of children’s day was explained to them by their teachers. The students watched a puppet show ‘ The monkey who loved chocolates’ enacted by their teachers . The excitement and thrill was evident through their smiling faces and twinkling eyes. Different activities were conducted at different grades. ‘Choco biscuit treat’ was made by the students of Nursery and Playgroup, the students of Sr. Kg and Jr. Kg. made ‘chocolate balls’. The children had a yummy time eating the goodies along with snacks provided by the school. The children then danced to the music and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

ACTIVITIES held on 14th October 2011

Diwali Celebration

Diwali one of the biggest festivals of India, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness through out pre-primary section..
First a story highlighting the importance of the this festival was narrated to the children. Lakshmi Pujan was performed to invoke the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi on this auspicious occasion. Classrooms were decorated and children took part in activities like making wind chimes, painting Diya – shaped greeting cards, made toran of leaves and colorful lanterns.Sweets were distributed to all the children.They were explained to have a save and pollution free Diwali.

Diwali Celebration

Halloween means kids running around in costumes, trick or treating carving jack-o’-lanterns, telling scary stories, family and friends getting together and a chance to talk with neighbors. Vibgyor kids did not want its kids to lose out on this fun and hence with this objective in mind Halloween was celebrated through out the pre- primary section. Various activities were conducted at various levels.
For instance the Play Group children enjoyed making the ‘Jack-o’-lantern’ bottle activity. It was a sheer joy to watch their total involvement.

The Nursery children enjoyed making the ‘Peek -a– Boo’, ‘ Jack-o’-lantern’ face masks. They were also told about the significance of the Halloween festival.

The children of Jr. Kg. took active part in making the witch hats. The teachers shared with them the significance of ‘Trick –or – Treat’ and told them about the countries that celebrate this festival.

The Sr. Kg. children were thrilled to make the paper ‘Jack-o’-lantern’. They wrer told about the history and significance of Halloween by relating the story of ‘Jack’.

ACTIVITIES held from 26th September to 28th September 2011

Event : Field Trip to a farm

The students of Jr. KG. were taken to the “Garware farm” for a field trip to give them a real life experience in connection with their lesson about pet and farm animals. On the farm they saw the cow shed and how the cows are milked by latest machinery . They witnessed the process of mowing the farm with a tractor. They also got a chance to see how biogas is made in the biogas plant. They visited a fruit orchard on the farm and were fortunate to se a helicopter and a vintage car belonging to the farm owners from close quarters.

Event : Visit to Zoo

This field trip was organized with an aim to introduce students to different wild animals at the Katraj zoo, and also to help the identify the different characteristics of animals. The children sat in a caravan to take a ride of the huge Katraj Zoo campus. They saw animals like the rare Bengal tiger, elephants, wild boar, deer and a variety of snakes.

Event : Pet Care Day

This day was organized with an aim to develop awareness amongst children about taking care of their pet animals. Parents showed great enthusiasm and willingly brought their pets to school. The children shared their experiences about how they took care of their pet’s food and hygiene. They were also introduced to a ‘Vet Doctor” who explained her role to them.

Special Day: My First Foreign Language class

The students of Sr.K.G were exposed to a new language “French”. The instructor for the language was Ms Prajakta. The children were very enthusiastic to listen and learn a little about this language. Children were taught the numeral 1-5, days of the week, months of the year and some other common words.

Activity: Concept of a Farm

The students were introduced to the concept of a farm in the class through a farm model. The objective was to to help them understand the physical features of a farm, and learn about the different chores done on a farm. The students responded well and learnt about farwere very excited to see the model of a farm and to learn about the farm.

Event: Potato Day

The Play Group children had a special day, ‘Potato Day’ on the 15th of September 2011. The children were encouraged to feel and discover the potato for themselves through activities. The experience was one of fun and learning. Besides sorting, smashing and printing with the potato, the children also made smiling potato head puppets.

Veggie Day

The playschool children spent quality time with their mothers on the veggie day .The short time activity helped the children to work along with their mom’s, to reinforce their knowledge on various vegetables. Mom’s were encouraged in making yummy salads. The children helped their moms in making cards. The entire event was very interactive.

Making Cat Puppet

The students of Jr. K.G. made cat puppets with paper bags. The aim was to help them enhance their creativity and fine motor skills. The little ones enjoyed themselves when they saw the outcome of the paper bags in the form of cat puppets.

Season’s Booth

The little wonders of Grade Nursery made a visit to a supermarket. They were thrilled to visit it with their friends. Besides chocolates and candies they also observed a variety of green vegetables and different types of colorful fruits. The students gained knowledge and developed an understanding of types of healthy foods.

Ganesh Festival

The Students of Sr.K.G celebrated ‘Ganesh Festival’ teachers by offering prayers to Lord Ganesha.This was followed by making of Ganesha Idols with the molding clay. The children made beautiful Idols of lord Ganesha and distributed to their friends and teachers.

Season’s Booth

The Season’s Booth was set up with an aim to let the students of Jr.k.G. experience different seasons .Four booths namely the Summer Booth , the Winter Booth , the Autumn Booth and the Monsoon Booth were set up. Children were exposed to various activities in each of the season. In the Summer booth they made lemonade ,wore summer clothes, played in the water, played with sand, made sand castles and made sunflowers with the material provided. In the Winter Booth they wore the winter clothes and also made the vegetable noodle soup. In the Monsoon Booth they experienced the use of raincoat, umbrella and gumboots. They also made muddy foot prints wearing gumboots and did Mushroom Printing. In the Autumn Booth children made a collage with dried leaves and also sorted various types of leaves. This activity was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.

Sense Station

The special culminating event of sense station was carried out with the nursery and playgroup children. The little ones discovered their five senses of touch, taste, hear, smell and sight through various kinds of physical activities. The station of Music and Movement also aroused the children with fun and excitement.

Sense Station of Touch

The sense station of touch had various kinds of rough and smooth textures. The children enjoyed walking bare feet on tubs filled with thermocol, soapy water, rough surface, stones, bubble surface, corrugated surface and also furry surface. Children also enjoyed painting with different mediums of color mixed with rice, bitter gourd paste and sand. The activity of discriminating various pulses was also enjoyed by the little ones. Teacher Deepa helped the children to get sense of touch through all these activities.

Sense Station of Taste

This was the most yummy sense station for the children. Children tasted their favorite food maggi, prepared in three different tastes- sweet, salty and fried maggi. They also tasted rice in three different tastes - plain rice, pulao and kheer. The small ones took some time to identify sweet, sour ,and salty tastes. Science of changing plain water into salty and sweet was also presented in a unique way through tasting. Children were happy to proceed to the next station tasting candy and carrying jelly candies with them. Teacher Bhairavi took utmost care to help the children to perceive various tastes of food ,liquids and candies.

Sense Station of Sight

The last of our sense stations was the sense booth of sight. Children with their parents explored various types of colored vision, through different coloured eye glasses. Children got the chance to view the day and night environment .They enjoyed the game of placing the nose of joker with their eyes blindfolded. The most exciting surprise for them was the shadow play on the projector. Shadows of fish, puppy ,butterfly, monkey fruits were projected with their respective songs.

Sense Station of Music and Movement

In the special culminating event of sense station, there was a rock and roll time of music and dance for the children.. The little ones danced to the music with utmost joy .The movements made the children aware of their body parts together with rhythm.
